More than 20 years ago, members of the restaurant community in the Sarasota and Manatee areas came together to unite independently owned restaurants and identify our region as a culinary destination. By bringing together restaurants through membership, we could showcase the best of our combined culinary offerings to a broader audience.
As our local small businesses grow together, they’re empowered to give back in even greater measure. Working toward shared success, the Originals proudly reinvest the rewards they reap into their neighborhoods. Independent, locally owned restaurants nourish their surroundings, strengthening the relationships, health, and economy of their communities.
Our Purpose
The Sarasota-Manatee Originals is dedicated to promoting and sustaining the local independent area restaurants and providing diners with unique local flavor. Our Member restaurants help define our Suncoast, give it character, and make it a memorable town to visit and live in. We urge you to support our local independent restaurants here and across the country, and to always “Eat Like A Local.”
Our Members
Today, the Sarasota-Manatee Originals consist of over 70 locally owned restaurants throughout Florida’s Suncoast, from the tip of Anna Maria Island to the southern beaches of Venice. Their owners and operators share a passion for dining excellence and a commitment to our community while celebrating our rich Gulf Coast lifestyle.
